The gift shop, found in the same building as our museum, is one of our primary sources of funding. Our ever popular "Cupid the Seal" t-shirts,  window decals, and pins, provide a regular source of funding for the Center to maintain its operations. In addition, one can find unique designs of gold and silver jewelry, jackets, stuffed animals and more. Some of the products we carry are shown here. If you would like to order any of these items, you will find a link to our mail order form at the bottom of this page.

Cupid was a yearling Harbor seal, stranded on Valentine's Day eve, 1982, in Long Beach Island, NJ. She suffered from pneumonia, parasites, emaciation and a broken jaw. A tag on Cupid's rear flipper indicated that she had been born on Sable island, just south of Nova Scotia. According to the "experts," we were told she would probably never make it, and that she should be put out of her misery. But, Cupid did make it.

Although a portion of her jaw had to he removed, and she became incapable of catching and holding live food, Cupid otherwise fully recovered. For this reason, Cupid lived the rest of her life in a public aquarium, where she was always with other seals and never in short supply of food and attention. She became extremely docile with people and was never vicious.

We are constantly reminded of Cupid's strength and will to survive through our T-shirts and sweatshirts, designed by Tex Green, a volunteer and good friend. Cupid was a remarkable seal, fighting the odds and living those extra years.
